SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP — Participants can hike, bike and canoe in the Little Miami River Trailblazer Adventure 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23.

Check-in begins at 11 a.m. at Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Park District Headquarters, 2751 Washington Mill Rd., Bellbrook. The event will begin and end there.

Registration is open until Wednesday, Sept. 19. Registration fees for various team sizes, how to prepare, prizes and more information can be found at lmriverkleeners.org/50th-anniversary-events.

During the adventure, participants will go on a scavenger hunt as a team to find checkpoints and learn about the natural environment of the Little Miami River. They will be able to “choose their own adventure” on the course.

Participants will be on foot for one leg of the race, in canoes on the Little Miami River for a second leg, and on their bikes for the third leg. During each leg of the race, participants will search for checkpoints. They will have up to five hours to find as many as they can.

Teams may be made up of two, three, four, five or six people per team. Teams may complete as little or as much of the course as they can within the time allotted. The event may be done relay style as well.

Throughout the event, participants will learn about the Little Miami River, local communities, and local plants and animals.

Funds from the Trailblazers Adventure will help protect the Little Miami River Watershed. The event is presented by Little Miami Watershed Network, Greene Memorial Hospital and James Investment Research.
