Spring Valley Mayor Candidates

Phil Achtermann

Date of Birth: July, 21, 1939

Why are you the right candidate for this seat?

“I was elected to Village Council for 19 years, giving me experience in managing the business of the village. The problems can be one item I had experience in which allowed the village to install a new water system and well. The specific problem was overcome with the EPA assistance and guidance, the village acquired land, well and plant working with the EPA.”

What is the most important issue facing this office going forward and what solutions do you have to offer voters for this issue?

“One issue I encountered is the lack of small business in the village, development of revision of the current zoning rules which are adapted from the City of Riverside, without adjusting in sections that are not compatible with the village lot sizes, requirements for signs and other sections needing the be reviewed. Another issue is the street replacement or repairs being an expense that will need attention to what help is available to make the necessary repairs or replacement. The water supply lines were installed about 50 years ago and are in need of replacement due the type of pipe used, and the age of those pipes.”
