XENIA — The Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center will host what could be its last free Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 22.

With the construction of the REACH Center expected to be complete, the new senior center could be complete, ready to host in 2019.

This year’s meal is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and all are welcome, according to organizer Mayor Sarah Mays.

“This is likely the last time in this location,” she said. “What a great way to bring things to a close.”

The dinner — which features all the traditional Thanksgiving goodies — is a collaboration of the Xenia Area Association of Churches and Ministries, the City of Xenia, Greene Memorial Hospital, Grocerlan, WGC Golf Course and the senior center.

Around 600 meals (or more) are expected to be served and another 200 will be delivered to those who can’t make it out of their homes.

“All volunteers make this happen,” Mays said. “I think that speaks very highly of the compassion and care of this community.”

To volunteer or request a delivered meal, contact Mays at 937-603-5643 or via email at [email protected] before 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21. To donate a pie, contact the City of Xenia at 937-376-7232.
