BEAVERCREEK — The Owen’s Place Charity Race will be held noon Sunday, Sept. 29 beginning at Owen’s Place in Victory Park, 2260 Dayton-Xenia Road.
Participants can race a 5K or 10K course, or walk a one mile course. The race is open to individuals of all ages and abilities. Medals will be awarded in several age categories. There will be a special medal category for wheelchair participants. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at www.speedy-feet.com but race day registration will be available.
The event is co-sponsored by the Beavercreek Kiwanis and Beavercreek Lions clubs. All proceeds will benefit Owen’s Place under the Greene Giving foundation’s oversight.
Owen’s Place in Victory Park is a unique recreation area providing universally accessible play in a safe environment for individuals of all ages and ability levels. Owen’s Place has completed three phases, with the shadow play, treehouse village, and the woods play areas drawing thousands of visitors each summer. Final completion of the hillside slide area and a future baseball field will depend on continuing support through fundraising events like the Owen’s Place Race.
“Owen’s Place will be a special place for kids and adults with varying ability levels,” said Gussie Jones, co-founder of the Owen’s Place organization. “All people deserve the right to enjoy the company of their peers regardless of ability.”
