XENIA– A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. canceled its trip to Xenia.

The team, whose members are from out-of-state agencies, notified Xenia Police Division of its decision March 13. The team was scheduled to arrive Monday to examine all aspects of the City of Xenia Police Division’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

As part of the on-site assessment, Xenia Police Division employees and members of the community were invited to offer comments at a public information session on March 17; however, that session has now been canceled as well.

In order to gain accredited status, the City of Xenia Police Division must comply with 480 standards.

“Accreditation is the foundation that assures our policies and procedures provide efficient and effective professional guidelines to our officers who serve our community,” said Chief Randy Person.

The team will reschedule its visit, but at this time a date has not been set.
