BEAVERCREEK — In these trying times, getting out in nature provides not only good exercise but also a respite from the drumbeat of difficult news. The trails and boardwalks along the Beaver Creek Wetland Corridor, managed by the Beaver Creek Wetlands Association and its partners, are a good place to walk, relax and enjoy nature.

Signs of spring are everywhere. Look for buds on the trees, early spring wildflowers and frog eggs in pools. Two of our locations are easily accessible. Siebenthaler Fen on Fairgrounds Rd. has a boardwalk about a mile in length that takes the visitor through wet woods, along the Beaver Creek and through the fen for which the site is named.

Koogler Wetland/Prairie Reserve, located at the corner of Beaver Valley Rd. and New Germany-Trebein Rd. offers a trail through an upland prairie and a boardwalk and trail that goes through the wetland. The trail provides a view of the Beaver Creek and recent beaver activity can be seen. Please exercise safe distancing if you encounter others on the trails.

Information on other sites is available on our website, www.beavercreekwetlands.org. Nature doesn’t wait for humans who might be otherwise engaged. Maintenance of these boardwalks, trails and other sites must continue.
