XENIA — Greene County residents can receive help with preparing their income tax returns through two groups.

AARP

AARP volunteers will be offering free income tax preparation at the Xenia Friends Meeting, 502 Chestnut St. on Mondays from Feb. 8 until April 4. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. To make an appointment or for more information, call 937-767-9411.

The program is available to taxpayers of any age. The volunteer preparers are trained and certified by AARP and the Internal Revenue Service.

VITA

Volunteers through the Greene County chapter of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program are also available to help low-income families and individuals, as well as seniors, with filing their 2016 returns. VITA offers free assistance to taxpayers with annual incomes up to $53,000 and seniors with a focus on those 65 and older.

VITA tax preparation in Greene County will be available until April 15, 2016.

Help will be available at the Xenia Community Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tax assistance takes place in the first floor meeting room, and patrons are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
