XENIA — The Greene County Master Gardeners will host a session about the “buy local” movement and food preservation from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 16. The event will take place at the OSU Extension Greene County offices, 100 Fairground Road, Xenia.

According to a release about the event, attendees will “learn about the history of preserving food; learn the basics of choosing fresh produce; learn the latest methods of safe home canning, freezing, drying and jellying the harvest.”

Resources and recipes will be provided and local vendors and producers will be on hand to offer expertise and products. This program is designed for all levels of experience.

“Summer will be here before we know it and this seminar will give you the knowledge and the tools to enjoy your harvest well beyond the growing season,” the release about the event states.
