XENIA — The Xenia Police Division has been made aware of a telephone scam that may be occurring around Greene County and Ohio.

The caller will claim to be from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office investigating a bad check complaint from a pay day loan company. The caller may have the victim’s personal information (Social Security numbers, date of birth, phone numbers, etc.) and they will indicate that they are filing a warrant through the county prosecutor’s office if the victim does not wire money to Bloomberg Processing by a certain date.

The callers are very persuasive and aggressive.

Please be aware that this is a scam and that they do not represent the Ohio Attorney General’s Office or the Greene County Prosecutors Office. Citizens contacted by any of these individuals should hang up the phone and contact the Xenia Police Division (937-372-9901) or the Ohio Attorney General’s Consumer Fraud Division.
