WILBERFORCE — Dr. Algeania Warren Freeman, president of Wilberforce University, will be honored as the “2015 Citizen of the Year” for the Mu Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity of Dayton.

The purpose of the award is to recognize those individuals at the local and international levels who have contributed significantly to community uplift.

Freeman was recently honored by Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis. At its Men’s Spiritual Bootcamp Program, Pastor Dr. Darryl K. Webster presented the Eagle Award to Freeman for her leadership contributions in helping to use education and spiritual development for lifelong changes in the lives of people who need a second chance in life to become contributing citizens.

Freeman was also recognized as “A Woman of Excellence and A Game Changer” by Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati and as the Who’s Who Digital Weekly Honoree.
