UU Fellowship program
YELLOW SPRINGS — The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Yellow Springs will present “Ingathering—Water Ceremony” beginning 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. Mary Sims, member, will officiate at the traditional UU end of summer coming together. The water attendees bring in represents the spiritual experiences and understandings which each of us hopefully gained during this season of vacations and other special happenings.
Social and snack time will follow the program beginning at 11:45 a.m., a coordinating council of committees meeting is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
XENIA — The community is invited to attend a special service “Looking Back at Bethel Temple Church” 11:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 914 E. Third St. Guest speaker will be evanleist Tamatha Graves of North Carolina. The event is sponsored by Christian Women’s Missionary Auxiliary. Suffragan Bishop Marvin E. Graves is the pastor.
Blessing of the pets
XENIA — New Jasper United Methodist Church will hold a blessing of the animals 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. All animals must be caged or leashed. Light snacks will be served. The event is open to all. For more information call 937-689-7921. The church is at 3060 Jasper Road.
XENIA — Xenia Nazarene Church will be hosting Ramsey’s Financial Peach University workshop 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at the church, 1204 W. Sharrett to speak
XENIA — Dr. Kevin Sharrett, locally known physician and Greene County coroner, will be speaking at the Memorial United Presbyterian Church. The service begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 and is located at 343 W. Ankeney Mill Road across from the Greene County fairgrounds. All are welcome to attend.
BEAVERCREEK — Gain a perspective of the Book of Mormon in a free friendly group study setting weekly in the chapel at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3072 Shakertown Road.
The class is held every Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m. For more information about the class by phone or text to 614-517-5385. The Book of Mormon is known as the name of a book first published in America in 1830 by a unique individual named Joseph Smith.
BEAVERCREEK — The youth group ENGAGE meets 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Beavercreek Baptist Church, 3511 Dayton-Xenia Road. The group is for grade 6-12.
BELLBROOK — The BellHOP Cafe hosts BHS Breakfast Club the first Thursday of each month.
The BHS Breakfast Club is co-sponsored by the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Ministerial Association and BellHOP Cafe to support the high school age youth in the community.
XENIA — The Arrowbrook Southern Baptist Church, 1124 Upper Bellbrook Road, will host a free meal 6-8 p.m. the last Wednesday of each month. Please check the church Facebook page www.facebook.com/arrowbrookbaptist/to confirm dates and times each month.
Clothing closet open
FAIRBORN — First Church of God Tabernacle, 1635 Montgomery Ave., is inviting community members to come to its free women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing closet at the church. It is open 4-6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. the third Saturday of each month.

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn United Methodist Church continues its ministry of the free clothing store, 100 N. Broad St.
During 2017, the church served 290 families including 962 adults, 123 teens and 380 children. Of the families, 246 were from Fairborn and 44 were from other communities and came as far away as Cincinnati. The church offered 13.178 items of clothing, including 695 pairs of shoes and 30 new pairs purchased from an anonymous donation, 719 pairs of socks, 1,411 accessories and 224 coats.
The hours of operation for The Family Closet are 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 9–11 a.m. the first Saturday of the month. Call the church at 937-878-5042 before holidays to make sure it is open. All clothing is donated whether it is used or new. Anyone needing clothing is welcome to come.
