XENIA — Arthur, a native of Xenia, was a circus gymnast. In 1887 he was with the Great Australian Circus which traveled around the Great Lakes. He could leap over ten horses and also did a double somersault over ten horses at every performance.One of his greatest feats was when he somersaulted over ten horses and four elephants.

For a while he was with the Al G. Fields Minstrels in circus and pantomime acts. He traveled with Col. Hayward’s Great Roman Hippodrome & Circus throughout the world. He became famous as a horizontal bar performer and an all-around tumbler.
