“It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.” (John 6:45)
God speaks to the hearts and minds of humankind. He sends His Spirit to do His bidding in drawing persons back to a positive relationship with Him. Our part in God’s work is to simply listen to Him through His Word. As we do the Spirit makes God’s work real to us and we are drawn to Jesus, His perfect Work. There is no effort by ourselves that accomplishes our salvation. God does it all.
All we can do is be thankful that our God cares enough for His creation as to intervene on our behalf and establish a new relationship with us. By His Spirit we learn who our God really is. We come to know His love for us and the lengths He has gone to draw us to Himself. We come to know that the Cross is for us the sign of that love and drawing power. We also come to know that Jesus’ care for us brought us the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us through life. Yes, we are taught by God and saved by Him for eternity.
Heavenly Father, without Your teaching us we would continue to be lost. Thank You for Your intervention in our lives even if we didn’t ask for it. Thank You for making the first move that drew us to You and Your Son. Glory to Your Holy Name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
