Greatness is inside of us all

What is great? Something that is considerably above average. Greatness is distinguished with this upward standing.

Is greatness something you have, or is it something you give? If you gave considerably a lot of time to something, would you become great at it? Maybe, or at best, become good at it? What makes me wonder, is how to one person it’s good, but to another it’s excellent. It’s a matter of perspective, and that would depend on where you stand. If you stood on the top of the mountain, your outlook would be different than someone in the valley, but that wouldn’t change the greatness of the mountain. The view would differ on what was great.

The valley walker would see the height as being great, and one at the peak would see the valley that surrounded him as great. This valley could be full of hurt and broken hearts, that tried and tried to scale that mountain that they believed would bring them acceptance and love, and have been wounded by the fall.

The ones on the top of the mountain could feel lonely and small. Maybe the point is we all are just afraid of heights. We all are facing something great; it may look small to someone else, but it’s a great deal to another. No one likes to fall down! “The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.” (Proverbs 24:16 (NLT)

It’s not where you’re at, it’s about what you do; where you are. Greatness isn’t something you have; it’s what you give. We can give great hate or great love, the choice belongs to us, not the mountain. We can let fear and hate be the glue that enslaves us or hope and love that brings us together. You can have a great talent, but if you don’t give it, no one will know you have it.

Fear and doubt are destroyers, and if we keep on those thoughts for too long, they can turn to hate, and the crazy thing is you can start hating yourself. How can we move from this fear and hate of failure? I believe we have to surrender it all to Jesus. I know if we pray for God to change our situation He will.

God wants to change our lives, but we have to give it all to Him. Lose it all, the fear of failure, the fear of falling from the mountain in our life, only to land into the Savior’s hands. Jesus said in John 10:28-30, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

No matter if you’re in the valley or you’re hanging on the cliff for dear life God is the God of it all and has freely given us all things. And in all these things we are more than conquerors, we are all valued greatly through Him! Greatness is inside of us all for God has given us all the measure of faith (Romans 12:3), and God made no distinction between them and us, purifying their hearts by faith in Christ Jesus. (Acts 15:9) It’s up to us to believe it, revive it and give it! Sir Edmund Hillary a New Zealand mountaineer Who climbed the summit of Mount Everest, said: “ It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.”
