XENIA — Hugo Schlesinger was born in Xenia, the eldest son of Barney Schlesinger, a local businessman. Following graduation from high school, he tried newspaper reporting, but decided to attend college and later law school. He opened his law practice in Xenia for a few years and then moved the practice to Columbus where he became prosecuting attorney for Franklin County. He had other political aspirations including planning to run for governor of Ohio, but died before this plan could be put into place.
