A special project

Senior Moments

Oh, hi.

I didn’t notice you were reading this Senior Moments column because I’m busy with a special project.

I’m creating my own messages to put on my telephone answering machine.

I’m doing it because the messages others come up with are often pretty dorky.

I have one that carries the message “Bob is not here at the moment. Please leave a message and he will get back to you soon. Have a nice day.”

That message is ok but sadly it lacks pizzazz. It’s like … um … well … boring!

I want a clever message that reflects my personality and catches the attention of all kinds of callers.

So far I’ve managed to come up with six, maybe seven alternatives to those boring telephone messages.

My favorite is this one: “Hello, this is Bob. Doggone it all, you just missed me. I wish I could have been here to accept your call but you know me – busy, busy, busy. Try me again soon, OK? And, hey, you have a nice day.”

That’s one of my more straight-forward messages. No frills. Just facts.
