Ritter’s hosting Olympic sendoff, June 24

BEAVERCREEK — Ritter’s Frozen Custard will host an Olympic Trials Send Off celebration for international race walking competitor Susan Randall, of Beavercreek. Randall is one of the top-14 racewalkers in the nation who will be competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 30-July 2 in Charlotte, N.C.

The Send Off will take place from 5-8 p.m. June 24 at Ritter’s, 2531 Dayton Xenia Road. Randall will be on hand, and several area businesses have provided Raffle Baskets for the occasion. Tickets cost $5 for six, $10 for 12. A percentage of the evening’s sales at Ritter’s will go to help support Randall’s Olympic effort.

Rowing Assn. hosting Olympic Day

DAYTON — The Greater Dayton Rowing Association (GDRA) will be hosting a learn to row Olympic Day to attract new rowers to the sport. They are the only local team that will send local athletes to compete at the 2016 Youth National Championships in West Windsor, N.J., in June. GDRA and fellow sponsors will hold the learn to row from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on June 25 at the Eastwood MetroPark Lake, 1401 Harshman Road in Riverside. An Olympic athlete will be on-site, and there will be several activities to introduce the sport to the public.

Wittenberg hosting Track & Field Camp

SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg University is hosting at Track & Field Camp on June 27-29, for student athletes in grades 7-12. Resident cost (including lodging, tuition, meals and a T-shirt) is $325, commuter cost (tuition, meals and T-shirt) is $285. Athletes will receive expert instruction in sprints, hurdles, jump and throws from college coaches throughout the Midwest. Contact Tessa Roberts at [email protected] for more camp information.

Beavercreek hosting Elite Running/Fitness Camp in July

BEAVERCREEK — The final session of an Elite Running/Fitness Camp, sponsored by the Beavercreek High School Cross Country team will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. July 18-21, at Ferguson Hall on the Beavercreek High School campus, look for large tents and flags.

A Future Olympian Race of Champions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the last day of the session. Cost is $25 for one session. Make checks out to: BCCPA. Runners will learn about proper running form, how to train for distance running, strength/core training using body weight exercises, and fun running games. Bellbrook Boys basketball camp June 27-July 1

BELLBROOK — A boys basketball camp will be held June 27-July 1 at both Bellbrook Middle School and Bellbrook High. The cost is $80 for one child, $140 for two; $190 for three and checks should be made out to Bellbrook High School.

Kids in grades 2-3 will have camp from 1-3:30- p.m. in the Middle School auxiliary gym. Those in grades 4-5 will will play at the same time, but in the middle school’s main gym. Players in grades 6-8 will practice from 1:30-4 p.m. at the high school gym. All campers will receive a T-shirt and plenty of fundamental basketball instruction from boys high school varsity basketball coach Donnie Tate and his players.

BICYCLING

Greene Trails Cycling Classic July 14-17

XENIA — The 2016 Greene Trails Cycling Classic will take place July 14-17 with the Greene County Fairgrounds Recreation Center serving as home base for the hundreds of cyclists expected to attend from all over the region.

Excursions will be planned for each day of the event. Registration includes Fairgrounds Recreation Center campsite, Support and Gear (SAG), fully-supported rest stops, purchase pick-up, breakfast daily and all evening entertainment including meal on Thursday and Saturday night – if registered for Thursday and Saturday.

Reduced Greene County Resident Rate includes all SAG, Rest Stops, Purchase Pick Up, Century Ride Award, Tent Camping and Breakfast. Additional and optional costs may include $10 per evening for entertainment; T-shirt, $15; and GTCC Jersey, $65.
