Six Scouts on GLSCL All-Star roster

XENIA — Six members of the Xenia Scouts baseball team have been selected for today’s Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star Game, which will be played at Prasco Park, 6125 Commerce Court, in Mason.

Xenia pitchers Benjamin Aldridge, John Crawford and Quentin McGrath will be joined by Scouts teammates David Gauntt (catcher/designated hitter), Kyle Carnahan (third base) and Lee Solomon (shortstop, second Base).

Among Xenia team members who have participated in 30 or more games, Gauntt (.308), Carnahan and Solomon are respectively 1-2-3 in batting average. Carnahan leads the team in hits with 42. Gauntt and Carnahan are tied for the team lead in home runs with seven each, Solomon is tied for the team lead in stolen bases (with Levi Gilcrease) with 12, and Gauntt leads the Scouts in runs batted in with 33.

On the mound, Aldridge leads the Scouts in innings pitched (50) and strikeouts (40); McGrath tops the team in wins (6); and Crawford leads the team with the lowest earned-run average (five games or more played) at 1.16.

The six Scouts will be on the GLSCL’s Red Team, which will be coached by Hamilton Joe’s skipper Darrel Grissom. Lima Locos veteran manager Chad Ehrnsberger will coach the Blue Team.
