Bellbrook cruises in tourney opener
BELLBROOK — Eight players scored for Bellbrook in a 9-0 Division II girls soccer tournament win over Dayton Stivers, Tuesday, Oct. 18. Bailey Sedlak had two goals, while Hailee Adams, Lauren Chew, Cassi Hennen, Paige Buttery, Jade Edwards, Gabby Gerbic and Natalie Stein each had one. Audrey Spirk had a pair of assists. Fourth-seeded Bellbrook plays next at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 against no. 3-seed Tipp City Tippecanoe.
Beavers roll in tourney
BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek’s girls soccer team posted its ninth shutout in its last 10 games, beating Franklin, 7-0, in a Division I girls soccer tournament match. The second-seeded Beavers will now host no. 19 West Carrollton at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.

Foster OVC offensive Player of the Week
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Fairborn native Jordan Foster was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s offensive player of the week in women’s soccer, for the week of Oct. 18, it was announced earlier this week.
Foster scored the tying and go-ahead goals in Eastern Kentucky University’s win over University of Tennessee Martin. The junior forward also scored the golden goal in EKU’s overtime win against Southeast Missouri. Foster recorded a combined nine shots in the two matches, seven of them were on goal. EKU is 10-4-0 overall, and 5-2-0 in the OVC. They’ve tied a program record with 10 wins thus far this season. The Colonels will host Eastern Illinois at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21 in Richmond, Ky.
Haight goal caps Senior Night win
CEDARVILLE — Levi Haight’s first career goal, near the end of the first overtime, gave Cedarville a 4-3 non-conference result over Mercyhurst on Senior Night, on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The freshman midfielder settled down John Schwien’s corner kick in the left side of the penalty area, and then placed a 15-yarder into the upper right corner with 29 seconds left in OT. Cedarville upped its record to 7-6-2 overall in its final regular season home match.
The Yellow Jackets never trailed in the high-scoring affair. Four goals were scored in the opening 10 minutes. Sebastian Duque headed in a cross from Bradley Schluter in the sixth minute with a secondary assist from Aaron Plummer.
Mercyhurst, 10-4-1, tied it less than two minutes later before Plummer one-timed Joel Twinem’s pass for a 2-1 lead in the ninth. However, the Lakers needed just 44 seconds to equalize. Twinem set up Bryce Childers for a 3-2 margin in the 28th minute and it stayed that way until the visitors converted a penalty kick in the 80th, ultimately forcing overtime.
Jackets bounce back
CEDARVILLE — Abby Shelton pounded 17 kills to lead three players in double figures as Cedarville defeated Tiffin in a non-conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Callan Athletic Center. The Yellow Jackets recovered for a 17-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-21 victory.
Shelton added a team-high 19 digs to her effort to go along with two service aces and a block. Gabby Olson buried 15 kills with Taylor Wilkerson contributing 11 kills, 12 digs, and three blocks. Krissy Pratt came up with 16 digs, Rachel Krikke turned aside four blocks, and Kristin Cardwell handed out 44 assists. Cedarville improved to 16-6 overall.
Junior Raider Cheerleader camp this weekend
FAIRBORN — The Wright State University Raider cheerleaders and dancers will hold registration and training camp for the 2016-17 Junior Raider Cheerleaders program from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 22 and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Wright State Nutter Center. Clark State to Volley for the Cure
SPRINGFIELD – Clark State Community College will host the Ninth annual Volley for the Cure event, at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 in the gymnasium on the Leffel Lane campus.
Teams from Clark State, Bobby Fisher Distributing and The Assurant Group will participate in Volley for the Cure. All monies raised are donated to the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County. Additional activities include face painting, pumpkin painting, concessions, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.
Meet the team night at Beavercreek
BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek’s basketball teams will be introduced 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Ed Zink Fieldhouse at Beavercreek High School. The boys and girls high school and middle school teams will there along with cheerleaders, the pep band, the Beaverettes and the Beavercreek Stars.
Meet the FHS girls basketball team
FAIRBORN — The Fairborn girls basketball team will be introduced from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 in the Fairborn Baker Middle School Gymnasium. The Fairborn Skyhawks youth basketball teams, Baker Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade teams, Fairborn High School junior varsity and the Fairborn varsity Team will all be introduced to the public and will demonstrate their skills. There will be concessions available, a 50/50 raffle, prizes and more.
