XHS Class of ‘73 golf outing Saturday

XENIA — The fifth Play it Forward golf outing and scholarship fundraiser, hosted by the Xenia High School Class of 1973, is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 at Sebastian Hills Golf Club. Golf registration includes a light breakfast, a picnic-style lunch and beverages, in addition to prizes and raffles. The event is open to the public.

The goal of the fundraiser and scholarship award is to give back to current XHS graduates in need. Scholarship monies are acquired from hole sponsorship, title sponsors, monetary/gift donations, and golfers.

MLB Alumni Assn. hosting event Monday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association will host a Swing with the Legends celebrity golf tournament featuring former All-Stars, World Series champions and other baseball alumni. The golf tournament will take place on Monday, June 19th, with proceeds benefitting the Character and Courage Foundation and Jack’s Place for Autism.

Alumni players scheduled to attend the event include 1990 Cincinnati Reds World Series champion and All-Star Tom Browning, Reds All-Star and 1999 National League Rookie of the year Scott Williamson, as well as Jim Geddes, Tom Kramer, Larry Luebbers, Joe McCabe, Chris Nichting, Fairborn’s Ron Nischwitz, Fred Scherman, Walt Terrell and Jon Warden.

The golf event will take place at the Oasis Country Club, located at 902 Loveland Miamiville Rd., Loveland, OH 45140, with registration starting at 9 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 11 a.m. There will be an awards reception following the tournament beginning at 5 p.m.

Drifting event at Kil-Kare June 23-24

XENIA — Tickets for the June 23-24 Midwest Drift Union’s No Star Bash drifting event are now on sale. The sixth annual event will take place at Kil-Kare Raceway, 1166 Dayton-Xenia Road in Xenia. Presale tickets are $15, and tickets will be $20 at the gate. Kids 12 and under get in free. One wristband is good for both days. Lost wristbands will not be replaced for free.

Gates open 3 p.m. June 23. Drifting runs 3-10 p.m. Gates open 10 a.m. June 24 with drifting running 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Fairborn hosting summer basketball camp

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Girls’ summer basketball camp will be 6-8 p.m. June 27-29 at Baker Middle School. The camp is for girls who will be entering grades 2 thru 8.

The three-day camp cost is $35 per camper. Checks should be made out to Fairborn Girls Basketball.

Pacesetter Open set

BEAVERCREEK— Country Club of the North will once again play host to the 35th Pacesetter Open, Monday, June 26. The Pacesetter is a major fundraiser for the Wright State Athletic Department. All proceeds go to support Wright State’s student-athletes.

The day will include breakfast, a four-player golf scramble, and lunch served in the clubhouse. Registration and warm-up begins 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $225 for an individual and $900 for a foursome and includes greens fee, cart, a complimentary gift, and food and beverages throughout the day. There are also sponsorship opportunities available.

Beavercreek fall basketball league

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek High School girls basketball program will be hosting its 18th annual girls basketball fall league. The games will be played on Sunday afternoons Sept. 10 through Oct. 22. All teams will play seven games on five Sundays with no games Sept. 17-24.

The league will have 12 high school teams ninth through 12th grade. There will be 8-10 girls per team, with only two players from each school on the same team. Xenia Soccer Club needs refs

XENIA — The Xenia Soccer Club is looking for new/returning/certified Referees for the fall 2017 season. Referees will be trained, but previous soccer experience is a plus. Refs must be as least 13 years of age, attend a two-day training session, and successfully pass a written and field test. The pay rate is $10-$12 per game based on test score. Certified referee rate is $15 per game. Games are played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. Referees can set their own schedule. Training will be held at the complex on Fairground Road in Xenia 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday July 8 and 1:30-5 p.m. Sunday, July 9 as well as 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 and 1:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6. SW Ohio Track practices continue

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Southwest Ohio Track Club summer program is holding team practices Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Several meets will take place this summer. Practices for 7-12 year olds are 5-6 p.m. Practices for 13 and older are 6-7:30 p.m.

The SWOTC includes elementary, middle school, high school, post collegiate and master athletes. All are welcome. The SWOTC is a tax exempt and sanctioned program. Club offering summer camps

DAYTON — The Dayton Boat Club will be holding two introduction to rowing camps this summer for youth in Grades 7-12. Each camp will consist of eight two-hour training sessions. No experience is necessary. All sessions are held at the Dayton Boat Club Boathouse located on East River Road near Moraine. Session 1 runs June 19-July 1 with 6-8 p.m. sessions Monday, Wednesday, Friday and a 9-11 a.m. session Saturday. Session 2 runs July 17-July 29 with the same daily schedule.

Buddies program returns

DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons Kroger Baseball Buddy program is back for the 2017 season. Kids 7-13 can enter for a chance to run onto Fifth Third Field alongside the Dragons players.

The experience includes: Hanging out in the dugout during pre-game to meet the Dragons players; Getting autographs and photos with the Dragons team; Being introduced over the PA like a player; Running out on the field with the team before that day’s game. Baseball Buddies will also receive several gifts including a replica Dragons jersey, a Dragons baseball hat, a drawstring backpack, and Dragons pen and baseball to be autographed. One baseball buddy will win a free fun day at Fifth Third Field with 20 of their friends and Dragons players.
