WSU swim team seeking funds

FAIRBORN — A group of former swimmers and friends have set out to make the upcoming college swimming and diving season a reality for the Wright State University team through a fundraising effort. If the funds are raised, there will be a limited schedule, including the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships. This will give the student-athletes an opportunity for one more season.

The fundraising group has been charged to raise $85,000 by June 30.

At the June 8 meeting of the Wright State University Board of Trustees, the members gave the directive to the Interim President Curtis McCray and the Director of Athletics Bob Grant to explore a plan for the swimming and diving teams to compete during the 2017-18 season.

As of June 27, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has raised $63,670, or slightly less than 75 percent of the total. Contact Greg Lockard at [email protected] to learn how to donate.
