XENIA — Xenia Buccaneers boys soccer team beat the Greeneview Rams 4-0, Sept. 19 at Doug Adams Stadium. Patrick Cook led the way, scoring a hat trick to help Xenia move to 4-5 on the year while the Rams fell to 2-5-2.

The game started out going back and forth, with each team exchanging opportunities. Cook scored his first goal 33 minutes into the game and was the only one to score in the first half.

“He’s been great all year,” Xenia coach Keenan Mikal said. “He just puts his heart and soul into it and does a great job.”

Early in the second half, Greeneview’s starting goalie Gage Getner was injured in a collision. He did not return to the game. Greeneview had no official backup goalie and was forced to use players with little to no experience in goal.

Xenia took advantage of this inexperience and put up three more goals in the span of 8 minutes. Cook scored less than 2 minutes after the injury and then followed that up with another goal 5 minutes later to complete the hat trick.

Maddox O’Bryant scored 10 seconds after Cook’s final goal to put the Buccaneers up, 4-0.

The game was delayed with 21:37 remaining on the clock, however the teams decided to call it a game.

“It was a good game,” Mikal said. “Cook really was a leader with his play on the field.”

Xenia’s next game is at home against Greater Western Ohio Conference Division foe Trotwood-Madison High School on Wednesday Sept. 27.

Greeneview’s next game is at home against Ohio Heritage Conference Division foe Southeastern High School on Thursday Sept 21.
