Teams Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

KETTERING — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To show support for those battling the disease and to help raise awareness of the need for breast cancer screenings, Kettering Sports Medicine, Dayton Sports Medicine Institute, Kettering Breast Evaluation Centers and local high schools are partnering to hold “Pink Games” at athletic events in October.

The teams will be provided with pink towels at designated games in October. Kettering Breast Evaluation Centers will provide information on breast cancer screenings, and pink footballs will be thrown into the stands.

Bellbrook High School’s boys basketball team is seeking applicants for the Varsity Assistant Coach position. Applicants should have prior high school coaching experience, positive references available, and must be able to submit to a mandatory background check. CSU Hall Inductees announced for 2015

WILBERFORCE – Central State Athletic Director Jahan Culbreath has announced the department’s Hall of Fame committee’s 2015 inductees. Joining the CSU Hall of Fame this year will be Thelanious “Laney” Prioleau, Dr. Arthur E. Thomas, and the 1990 Central State football team.

In addition to this year’s inductees, Central State’s undefeated 1965 men’s basketball team will be in attendance to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The ‘65 team won the school’s first NAIA national basketball title with a flawless 30-0 record.

The 2015 Hall of Fame Luncheon will be held at the Country Club of the North at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, in Beavercreek. Tickets to the induction ceremony are available for $35 each and can be purchased online or by calling the CSU Athletic Office at (937) 376-6289. All those planning to attend must RSVP prior to the event and purchase their ticket(s) on or before Monday, Aug. 31.

Marauders home games on Gem City Sports Network

DAYTON — The Gem City Sports Network will be broadcasting the three Central State Marauders home games this year. They will be live at radio1.gemcitysports .com and will be archived, on the Gem City Sports website, at www.gemcitysports.com.

The first game will be at 1 p.m. Saturday Oct. 3, when Central States hosts Kentucky Wesleyan.

DRAG RACING

$5,000 Fall Grand Nationals this weekend

XENIA — The $5,000 Fall Grand Nationals will run Saturday and Sunday at Kil-Kare Dragway. Gates will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 per person or $15 for a car load. Kids 12 and under get in free. Payout structure, ET breaks, and small flyer with Entry Information can be found on the Dragway Schedule at Kilkare.com.
