Rams win Greene Co. poll

With the regular season coming to an end last week, one area football team will get to play in week 11. The Greeneview Rams return to the postseason for the second year in a row. They take on West Milton Milton-Union at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Milton Union Memorial Stadium.

The Rams defeated Ohio Heritage Conference rival Cedarville on the road, 54-22 Friday night and remain in the top spot of the area poll. They finished fifth in the OHSAA computer ranking for Division V, Region 18 with 12.85 points.

In Division I, Beavercreek didn’t make the cut for the postseason despite an impressive year. The Beavers, who finish second in the area poll, defeated Kettering Fairmont 62-15 to end the year with a win. They finished 19th in the D-I, Region 2 OHSAA computer rankings with 18.7455 points.

A tough Middletown Fenwick team handed Carroll a 35-7 loss in the final game of the year for the Patriots. They are one of three area teams to finish with a .500 record at 5-5 and rank 22nd in the computer polls for D-III, Region 10.

In another rivalry matchup, the Xenia Buccaneers topped Fairborn 52-7. Danny Naylor finished the game with 177 yards passing, three touchdown passes and a rushing TD. The Bucs’ quarterback had touchdown passes to Ray James (who also returned a kickoff for a touchdown), Jeremiah Vaughan and Rocky James. Tanner Steward also ran for a touchdown for Xenia and Jonny Shampton Jr. had two picks in the game, returning one for a score.

The Skyhawks scored with 1:15 left in the first half when quarterback Wesley Watts found Aron Childers for a 27-yard touchdown pass.

The Bucs finished the season at 5-5 despite a tough start. They ranked 15th in the computer polls in D-II, Region 6. The Skyhawks finish 22nd in the same region.

The Golden Eagles defeated Southwestern Buckeye League rival Oakwood 20-13 to wrap up their season. They scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to get the win over the Lumberjacks and finish the season at 5-5. Bellbrook finished ranked 13th in the D-III, Region 10 computer polls. They have the second-highest computer points average in the area at 13.7.

Greenon finished the season with a 48-6 loss to Springfield Northwestern.
