Raiders defeat Houston at Showcase

CEDAR PARK, Texas — Behind a 29 point, 12 rebound performance from Antania Hayes and three others scoring in double figures, the Wright State women’s basketball team outscored Houston 31-16 the final 12:13 for a 75-61 victory over the Cougars Friday at the Lone Star Showcase.

The shooting percentages were nearly similar as WSU shot 43 percent compared to 40 percent for Houston, but the Raiders also hit 15 of 22 foul shot while the Cougars were nine of 13. Wright State also led in points in the paint (42-33), points off of turnovers (16-6) and second-chance points (22-13).

Hayes posted a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds, with 16 points and 10 rebounds coming in the second half. Three other Raiders scored in double figures as Kim Demmings had 14, Emily Vogelpohl 11 and Richelle van der Keijl 11.

Wright State (5-2), which lost to no. 25 Iowa 83-77 on Thursday, wraps up tournament play at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday against no. 24/23 George Washington.

Xenia Hall induction celebrations set

XENIA — The Xenia Athletic Hall of Fame for the class of 2015 induction ceremony will consist of two parts: the introduction of the Class of 2015 at the XHS basketball game on Friday Night, Dec. 4, and the induction ceremony and dinner AT 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Faith Community Methodist Church.

Outstanding athletes and others being honored are Lawrence Dudgeon from the Class of 1987, Jeff Huffmon-1984, Bret Jones-1999, Dave Reasons-1981, Billy Shields-1943, Monica West-1983, Coach Steve Harris-1982-2006, Community Volunteer Mack Bottorff-1961, and the 1992 State Soccer Final Four Team coached by Pat Marrinan and Mark Rinehart.

State Football tickets now on sale

COLUMBUS – Two types of all-session tickets are now on sale for the Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championship games, which return to Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Dec. 3, 4 and 5.

All-session tickets for the seven championship games in the club level, which are the chair-back seats on the west side of the stadium, are $105 each and also permit indoor access in the Huntington Club before, during and after each game. All-session reserved tickets on the east side of the stadium, which don’t include indoor access, are $84 each.

Single game tickets will go on sale Nov. 29 and cost $10 at the state finalist schools, or at the gate before each game for $15 (club level) and $12 (reserved).

Details for parking and other activities related to the championship games will be announced throughout the fall. The OHSAA football state championship games are hosted by the Greater Columbus Sports Commission and The Ohio State University Department of Athletics.

The state semifinal games are Friday, Nov. 28, for Division II, III, V and VII, and Saturday, Nov. 29, for Division I, IV and VI. The schedule for the Division II, III, V and VII state championship games will be announced on the OHSAA’s twitter page at approximately 11 p.m. on Nov. 28. One of those four divisions will play its state final on Thursday, Dec. 3, with the other three playing on Friday, Dec. 4. The schedule for the Division I, IV and VI state championship games will be announced at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, with all three of those games set for Saturday, Dec. 5.

Beavercreek offering four fitness classes

BEAVERCREEK — The City of Beavercreek Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is offering a Fat Blaster Boot Camp, Yoga, Piyo (Pilates, Yoga, Dance) and Pilates classes for the fall and winter months. Classes will be held at C.I. Beaver Hall, 3696 Highmont St., in Beavercreek.

The Fat Buster Boot Camp runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., with one session running Dec. 7-Jan.22 (closed 12/21 and 1/1). Cost is $70 for residents; $80 for non-residents.

Yoga classes will be offered Mondays from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Dec. 7-Jan.11, and Jan. 25-Feb. 22; and Thursdays at the same times Jan. 27-Feb. 25. Cost is $45 residents; $52 non-residents.

Piyo runs Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. Dec. 8-Jan. 12, and Jan. 26-Feb. 23 Cost is also $45 for residents; $52 non-residents.

Pilates classes will take place at 6:15-7:15 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 9-Jan. 13, and Jan. 27-Feb. 24. Residents pay $45; non-residents $52.

Redsfest tickets on sale

CINCINNATI — FOX Sports Ohio Redsfest presented by PNC Bank will be held at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Downtown Cincinnati from 3-10:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, and 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.

More than 80 current players and coaches, Reds Hall of Famers, alumni and broadcasters are expected to attend including Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, Aroldis Chapman, Todd Frazier and Billy Hamilton.

Two-day tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for kids 12 and younger. One-day tickets are $17 for adults and $7 for kids. Children three and under are admitted free.

With each two-day Redsfest admission purchased, fans will receive two free tickets to the Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game on Sunday, April 10. Fans purchasing a one-day Redsfest admission will receive one free ticket to the April 10 game.

The first 11,000 fans through the Redsfest doors each day will receive a free Reds drawstring bag and a Mr. Redlegs knit cap.
