Beavercreek hosting Fourth of July celebration

BEAVERCREEK — The City of Beavercreek Park and Recreation committee will be hosting the Fourth of July Celebration this holiday. The city parade will start at 6 p.m. and reach from Meadowbridge to Beavercreek High School. Rotary Park will also be hosting activities. Juggler Dave will be performing at 7 p.m., Fastrax Jump Team will be at 7:30 p.m., Systems GO Rock Band at 8 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Party in your Parks kicking off

BEAVERCREEK — Locals are invited to participate in the Party in Your Parks events this summer. Gather with your neighbors at a park near you to participate in games and activities organized by the City of Beavercreek Parks and Recreation Department.

The first event will be held from 6-8 p.m. June 26 at Grangeview Acres Park, 2816 Blythe Court. Other event include Summerfield Park on July 10, Virgallito Park on July 24 and Merrick Park on August 7.

Xenia player signs with Sinclair

Xenia short stop Matt Graham signed to play baseball at Sinclair Community College Wednesday. As a senior, Graham had a batting average of .398 over 27 games, according to the Greater Western Ohio Conference website. He scored 20 runs and earned 25 RBIs. He had one home run on the season.

Sinclair finished atop of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference with an overall record of 50-11 and a conference record of 20-4.

Xenia sets Jamboree preseason football game for Aug. 21

XENIA — Xenia High School will host Kettering Fairmont for an Ohio High School Athletic Association-sanctioned preseason Jamboree football game at 7 p.m. at Xenia’s Doug Adams Stadium. As part of Community Night, the Wee Bucs football teams and cheerleaders will be introduced, along with the seventh grade through high school athletic teams, flag corps and cheerleaders within the Xenia City School system.

Admission is $5 with all proceeds going to the OHSAA’s scholarship program, with a donation also being made to the Xenia Senior Center.

Dragons on TV today

DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons game at 7 p.m. today will be televised from Fifth Third Field on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 MeTV (channel 23 and digital channel 372 on most Time Warner Cable systems in the Miami Valley). The Dragons host the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians affiliate). The game is available to more than 500,000 households.

Dragons Director of Broadcasting Tom Nichols will handle the play-by-play for each telecast this season. Mike Vander Woude will serve as color commentator on Saturday.

Browns holding “Orange and Brown Scrimmage” in Columbus

COLUMBUS — The Cleveland Browns will host the “Orange and Brown Scrimmage” in Columbus at Ohio Stadium on Friday, Aug. 7. The intrasquad scrimmage at The Horseshoe will be from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Gates will open one hour prior to the start of the scrimmage at 5 p.m. Festivities will being on “Dog Pound Drive” (outside St. John Arena) from 4 p.m – 6 p.m.

Fans will be able to purchase tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22. Tickets are free to all fans, but must be printed and presented at the gates for entry into Ohio Stadium. Seating for the scrimmage is on a first come, first serve basis despite having a section/row/seat number included on each ticket.
