Dayton’s CW new home for Dayton Dragons baseball

DAYTON — Dayton’s CW (WBDT-TV) and the Dayton Dragons has announced a new partnership that will include broadcasting Dragons home games during the 2016 season from Fifth Third Field. Baseball Night in Dayton includes a 25 game television schedule which begins with the Dragons home opener on Saturday, April 9.

All games will be broadcast live and in high definition on the following outlets: Over the air Channel 26.1; Time Warner Cable Channel 13 and 1013 and Direct TV and DISH Network Channel 26.

“We are excited to be the new television home for the Dayton Dragons,” said Joe Abouzeid, President and General Manager, WDTN-TV and WBDT-TV. “We know the love this region has for the Dragons and we’re thrilled fans will be able to watch them on Dayton’s CW.”

Tom Nichols, the Dragons Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting will again handle play-by-play duties this season. Legendary Reds pitcher Tom Browning will provide color commentary on the opening broadcast. Others who will be part of the 2016 broadcasts include former Major League infielder Jeff Reboulet and 2 Sports anchors Jack Pohl and Hutch Konerman.

“Dayton’s CW is a top notch station and we couldn’t be happier to have live Dragons telecasts on Dayton’s CW all summer long,” noted Robert Murphy, Dragons Team President. “Having an award-winning telecast with loads of Dragons fun on a great local station is a real win for all of the Dragons fans in the region.”

The broadcasts will feature state-of-the-art high definition production quality with seven camera positions, slow-motion replays, player interview clips and the Dragons Hermes award-winning information graphics package.

Dragons baseball will enter its 17th season in 2016, continuing an all-time sports record sell-out streak of 1,121 consecutive games. Over the team’s history, 75 Dragons players have reached the Major Leagues including popular current stars like Joey Votto, Todd Frazier and Johnny Cueto as well as former standouts Adam Dunn, Austin Kearns and Wily Mo Pena.
