HIGH SCHOOL

MVFCA All Star Game June 10th

CENTERVILLE — The 33rd Miami Valley Football Coaches Association high school All Star football game will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 10 at Centerville High School.

A total of 13 Greene County area football standouts are listed on the all star rosters.

Fairborn’s Adam Knaub, Arron Childers and Ben Walburn, along with Cedarville’s Nathan Sheridan, will be on the North team.

The South squad has Xenia players Danny Naylor, Rocky James, Tanner Steward and Ryan Hudson, Carroll’s Cory Hastings and D.J. Sommers, Beavercreek’s Tim Bradshaw and Andrew Greenspan, and Bellbrook’s Caleb Shroyer.

A scholarship presentation will be made before the game starts, and there will be a MVFCA Coaches Hall of Fame presentation at halftime.

SOCCER

Dynamo hosting Youth Day, Sunday

DAYTON — The Dayton Dynamo soccer club will host National Premier Soccer League leader AFC Ann Arbor at 2 p.m. Sunday at Welcome Stadium, and it’s Youth Day at the pitch.

Anyone under the age of 18 gets in for just $1. This is a great chance to bring a youth team or organization to the match.

Dayton will play the Knoxville Force in a friendly at 7 p.m. Friday night at Welcome Stadium.

TRACK & FIELD

SW Ohio Track Club program under way

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Southwest Ohio Track Club’s Summer Track and Field Program has begun. This program is open to youth (7 years older) and older (including Masters). Practices are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Yellow Springs HS (5 p.m. and 6 p.m.) through July 21. The summer program is a certified USATF program with excellent coaching and training. OLYMPICS

Rowing Assn. hosting Olympic Day

DAYTON — The Greater Dayton Rowing Association (GDRA) will be hosting a learn to row Olympic Day to attract new rowers to the sport. They are the only local team that will send local athletes to compete at the 2016 Youth National Championships in West Windsor, N.J., in June. GDRA and fellow sponsors will hold the learn to row on June 25. An Olympic athlete will be on-site, and there will be several activities to introduce the sport to the public.

BICYCLING

Greene Trails Cycling Classic, July 14-17

XENIA — The 2016 Greene Trails Cycling Classic will take place July 14-17 with the Greene County Fairgrounds Recreation Center serving as home base for the hundreds of cyclists expected to attend from all over the region.

Excursions will be planned for each day of the event.

Registration includes Fairgrounds Recreation Center campsite, Support and Gear (SAG), fully-supported rest stops, purchase pick-up, breakfast daily and all evening entertainment including meal on Thursday and Saturday night (if registered for Thursday and Saturday).

Adults Children (ages 5-12)

4-Day: $150 ($75)

3-Day: $125 ($65)

2-Day: $100 ($55)

1-Day $80 ($50)

Non-riders: $75 ($50)

Greene County residents: $25 per day ($10 per day) $10/day/entertainment

Group Rate: $135 per person/four days*

*Discount of $10 per person/per day with group rate —- five or more from the same bicycle club with registration mailed together.

Reduced Greene County Resident Rate includes all SAG, Rest Stops, Purchase Pick Up, Century Ride Award, Tent Camping and Breakfast. Additional and optional costs may include $10 per evening for entertainment; T-shirt, $15; and GTCC Jersey, $65.

Junior Golf Camp, June 20-23

XENIA — WGC Golf Course in Xenia will host its Miami Valley Junior Golf Association 30th Annual Junior Golf Camp, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., June 20-23. for boys and girls ages 8-17. Campers will receive daily instruction on stroke technique, golf etiquette, the rules of golf as well as time on the practice tee and putting greens to work on stroke technique. All golfers will also play daily on the WGC Golf Course. Long time Golf Camp Director and former Stebbins H.S. golf coach Jim Beaver has a fine staff this year including PGA Pros Garay Goecke and Travis Mumma, Beavercreek H.S. varsity boys and girls coaches Chris Nartker and Angela Crum, Stebbins boys golf coaches Rick Pagniano and Shane Williams, Carroll assistant girls golf coach Alex Goecke and former Trevecca Nazarene University All-American Golfer Betsy Beaver, who is now the varsity girls golf coach at Westerville North High School.
