BEAVERCREEK TOWNSHIP — Traffic on U.S. Route 35 was down to one lane in each direction for more than two hours after a multi-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Brad Huffman, Mike Katulak, 52, of Wilmington, was attempting to turn from Trebein Road onto U.S. Route 35 when his truck was hit by a westbound semi-truck driven by Charles Harris, who did not stop at a red light.

The momentum of the impact pushed Katulak’s truck into a third vehicle, driven by Ashley Sears, 30, of Xenia, who was in the left turn lane on eastbound U.S. Route 35. Katulak was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Harris, 52, of North Carolina, will be charged with a red light violation, according to Huffman.

Traffic was clogged for two-and-a-half hours, Huffman said.
