XCS set for open houses

XENIA — The Xenia Community School District will showcase its new Xenia Preschool Village as part of its open house series.

The preschool village will open with 10 separate classrooms with additional space available for expansion. The classrooms are designed to provide a more secure, learning environment for the district’s youngest students. When classes begin, the facility will satisfy state and federal laws mandating that public school districts offer certain types of preschool services.

The open house will take place 9:15-10:15 a.m. and 12:45-1:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 at the school, 425 Edison Blvd.

The community has every reason to be proud of this preschool and the commitment of the school district to lifelong learning, according to Superintendent Denny Morrison. The preschool was able to expand when the district moved sixth graders to Warner Middle School.

Other XCS schools will have open houses this week.

Warner’s sixth-grade open house is 6-7:30 p.m. tonight while the eighth-grade open house is 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug 12, The seventh-grade open house was Monday night.

Xenia High School’s open house for grades 10-12 is 4-5:30 p.m. Freshman orientation is 6-7:30 p.m.

Elementary school open houses are Thursday, Aug. 13. Cox is 5-6:30 p.m.; Tecumseh is 5:30-7 p.m.; Arrowood and Shawnee are 6-7 p.m.; and McKinley is 6-6:30 p.m. with a back to school bash 6-8 p.m.

Classes begin Aug. 18. Preschool begins Aug. 24.
