XENIA — A man was arrested Thursday night in connection with a shooting at the Country Inn Motel.

Dalton M. Webb, 19, was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated assault after police were called to the motel to investigate a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found that two people had been shot after an altercation between two males that started in one of the rooms. The two victims in the shooting incident — an unnamed juvenile and Calvin Poffenberger, 19 — were transported to Greene Memorial Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to Xenia police.

The juvenile victim was possibly struck inadvertently because she was in close proximity to the confrontation, according to a release from Xenia police. All people involved knew each other and had checked into the hotel earlier in the evening, the release said.

Webb was still in Greene County Jail this morning, being held on $10,000 bond.

The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to review the case today. Webb was slated to be arraigned in Xenia Municipal Court this morning, according to police.
