SPRING VALLEY — A Hotmud Family reunion will highlight the Spring Valley Music and Art Festival Saturday, June 20.

From 1970 to 1983, the Hotmud Family — consisting of Spring Valley resident Rick Good, Dave Edmundson, Suzanne Thomas and Gary Hopkins — traveled the highways, low roads, backwaters and mountaintops of America, playing traditional country music in taverns, clubs, festivals and concert halls.

The 7 p.m. performance is the band’s first since a 2010 reunion at Canal Street Tavern in Dayton.

The festival takes place noon-9:30 p.m. In addition to music the festival will also feature workshops and contests starting at noon, a square dance 2:30 p.m. and a post-festival jam at Slim’s Bar and Grill, across from the main stage. Food from a wide array of vendors will be available, and artists from across the Miami Valley will be showcased throughout the day.

Longtime Spring Valley residents Rick Good and Sharon Leahy are the unofficial hosts for this multi-generational, family friendly event.

“If you play an instrument, regardless of skill level or age, love to dance, or would just like to bring your family out to hear some great music, you will love this festival.” Leahy said.

The festival’s main stage is located on Main Street, in the center of town across from the U.S. Post Office, just off U.S. 42, south of Xenia. Other musical performances on the schedule include new acoustic and newgrass music from Blue Moon Soup, bluegrass from Mad River Railroad, and an eclectic set from The Elements, featuring Michael and Sandy Bashaw, Good, and Leahy.
