Students visit ‘White House’ for Christmas celebration

CEDARVILLE – Cedarville University students will celebrate the Christmas season with a special event at the “White House,” the home of university president Dr. Thomas White. The celebration will take place 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7.

“We love students and want to get to know them,” White said. “This event allows students an opportunity to visit our home and allows our family an opportunity to serve the students through hospitality.”

Students will take a shuttle to the Whites’ home where they will enjoy snacks, dessert and fondue, decorate cookies, make s’mores and enjoy each other’s company.

“Our family seeks to serve the students through the ministry of hospitality and let students know we genuinely care about them,” White said. “My wife makes much of the food, my daughter greets the students as they arrive and I take coats and welcome everyone while trying to talk to as many people as possible, while my son works the room by eating as many sweets as possible. It’s a family ministry.”

This event is just one part of the larger Christmas tradition at Cedarville University. Other traditions include the annual Community Christmas Celebration concert, a unique Christmas Open Dorms and Campus Christmas, an event that includes games, music and midnight breakfast in the Stevens Student Center.
