XENIA — A man involved in a car-jacking/police chase incident in May pleaded guilty to charges against him in Greene County Common Pleas Court Monday. Darryl Matlock, 19, of Trotwood will be sentenced in the case Oct. 1 by Judge Stephen Wolaver.
The case had been sent to go to trial Monday morning.
Matlock faces a maximum sentence of 18 years in prison for the incident.
According to police information from the May incident, Matlock pistol-whipped a victim in Xenia and stole that individual’s car before attempting to elude law enforcement officers both in the vehicle and on foot. At the time of the incident, police also reported Matlock attempted to enter vehicles on U.S. 35 after he abandoned the vehicle he was driving. Police also reported recovering a weapon Matlock dropped as well in addition to one in the vehicle he was driving.
Matlock was indicted by a grand jury in June on seven charges related to a car-jacking incident: first-degree felony aggravated robbery, third-degree felony having weapons while under disability, third-degree felony grand theft, fourth-degree felony grand theft of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree felony carrying concealed weapon, fourth-degree improperly handling firearm in a motor vehicle and fifth-degree attempted grand theft of a motor vehicle.
