XENIA — Joseph F. Foody was born in Xenia April 11, 1888. He attended St. Brigid School and church where he served as an altar boy and sang in the boys’ choir. He enlisted in the Army in 1918, trained at Camp Taylor, Ky. and was sent to Camp Beauregard, Louisiana. In the late summer he was assigned to the Argonne Forest in France. While charging up a hill, he was killed by a machine gun bullet. The only Xenia soldier killed in World War One is buried in the American Cemetery, Romagna, France.
