CEDARVILLE — Five-time NCAA All-American Carsyn Koch is the 2017 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Midwest Region Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

The junior from Washburn, Maine was also the 2017 indoor region athlete of the year.

Award winners were determined by a vote of U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association member coaches following a nomination period.

Koch, who is the defending NCAA outdoor 800-meter champion, is No. 1 nationally in both the 800 (2:02.87) and 1,500 (4:12.19).

Her 800 mark is the third fastest in Division II history. She already owns the No. 1, 5, and 6 performances on the all-time list.

Koch’s 1,500 time is No. 2 in Division II women’s track history.

She guided Cedarville to its third straight Great Midwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship as the G-MAC Track Athlete of the Year. She set meet records in winning the 400, 800, and 1,500.

Koch, and Yellow Jacket teammates Olivia Esbenshade and Daniel Michalski will be competing in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 25-27 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
