Fairborn 4, Greeneview 1

JAMESTOWN — The visiting Skyhawks evened their overall record at 9-9 with Tuesday’s win over the Rams at Seaman Park.

Kyla Secrest brought home the first win of the night with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kay Crum at third singles. She was followed shortly afterwards by Acadia Wulf who won 6-1 and 6-1 over Leslie Freetage at no. 2 singles. Brooklyn Hunter also scored a 6-1 and 6-1 win at first singles over Greeneview’s Ellie Adkins.

At second doubles, Megan Koonce teamed with Maika Hayashi for a 6-1, 6-1 win in their first match together. Molly Nixon and Katy Hilbis took the loss for the Rams.

Shayna Osborne and Preslee Chapman got off to a slow start at first doubles, as they dropped the first set to Brooke Grizzle and Lauren Carroll 2-6, before bouncing back to win the second set 6-4. Since by this time the team match had already been wrapped up, the two teams played a Super tie-breaker to determine the winner of this match. The Greeneview duo got off to a quick start, and they held on for a 10-4 win to clinch the lone point for the Rams.

Centerville’s B squad will invade Community Park for a make-up match with Fairborn on Thursday. The Skyhawks will then participate in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Silver Flight tournament, Friday at Troy.

The 2015 sectionals then get under way Wednesday, also at Troy.
