Grads receive scholarships

JAMESTOWN — Greeneview High Schoool 2018 graduates Tylor Tackett and Aleah Simpson received the Elmo B. Higham and Ollie B. Higham Scholarships.

These four-year scholarships are awarded by the Jamestown Area Foundation each year to one male and one female at Greeneview High School and include all tuition, room, board, and text books at any state of Ohio public supported college or university. This award is endowed to the Greeneview students by the late Bruce E. Higham Trust in recognition of his parents, Elmo and Ollie, and is awarded in recognition of academic distinction, community service and leadership.

Tackett will attend Ohio University to study mechanical engineering. Simpson will attend the University of Cincinnati to study electrical engineering.

Beard makes deans’ list

KENT — Colin Beard was named to the spring 2018 Kent State University Dean’s List. He is the son of Darin and Patty Beard of Fairborn. He is majoring in biology and pre-medicine and minoring in psychology.

Resident graduates from UCO

EDMOND, Okla. — Xenia resident Brittany N. Fitzgerald graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor of science degree in family life education – child development as a part of the summer 2018 class, which included 489 students from throughout Oklahoma, the country and world.

Mercy College honors

TOLEDO — Mercy College of Ohio announced that Danielle Worsham of Fairborn was named to the honor’s list for summer semester.

She is working toward a bachelor of science degree in healthcare administration. To be named on the Honor’s List, a student must achieve a grade point average of [3.3] or higher and be enrolled for 6-11 credit hours.
