JAMESTOWN — Voters in Jamestown are being asked to renew a tax levy not to exceed 1.1 mills Nov. 3.
If it passes, Issue 20 will generate $23,800 in annual revenue, which the village will use for general operating expenses. The levy is for five years and would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $25.15 per year, which is not an increase.
Because of an increase in property values, the current levy has an effective millage of .821. According to the ballot language, that is the anticipated effective rate if the levy is renewed.
