XHS band going door-to-door

XENIA — The Xenia High School marching band will hold its annual Tag Day fundraiser 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.

On Tag Day members of the band and color guard will visit the neighborhoods of Xenia door-to-door seeking donations for the various band programs through Xenia Community Schools. They will be dressed in the uniforms that were purchased in fall 2016 with the support of various donors, organizations, and community support. The purchase of those uniforms, while drastically needed, took a large chunk of out of the Boosters’ budget.

In addition, in spring 2017, the band traveled to Universal Orlando where it marched in one of the park parades. This is a trip that is planned every four years. In order to keep the cost low for students to go, the Boosters paid for the entire cost — about $12,000 – of the motor coach bus and now are working to raise funds to recoup that expenditure and save for other future expenses.

The students are hoping that the community will come together again with generous donations to help build back up the funds that will continue to provide assistance to the band program throughout the year. No amount is too small and all support is greatly appreciated.
