GREENE COUNTY – Nathan Lamme served in the Revolutionary War for 8 years, earning the rank of Captain. He was granted 4,000 acres in the Virginia Military District in Ohio and came to Sugarcreek Township in 17897. Appointed the first sheriff of Greene County, he resigned after only three months due to his large land holdings. His five sons each took part in the War of 1812. He was a friend of Simon Kenton who visited his home frequently. He died in 1834 and is buried in the pioneer graveyard in Bellbrook.
