SWBL announces soccer awards

BELLBROOK — Several Bellbrook boys and girls soccer players received all-league recognition from the Southwestern Buckeye League this week.

On the girls side, Golden Eagles freshman Bailey Sedlak earned Newcomer of the Year honors after scoring 12 goals in 19 games this season. Juniors Bekah Vine and Cassidy Bereda were both named to the SWBL’s Southwestern Division first team, juniors Cassidy Hofacker, Audrey Spirk and Madison Geloneck were Southwestern Division second-teamers, while junior Lauren Chew and sophomore Hailee Adams were each named to the division’s Honorable Mention team.

The girls team, coached by Zach Huffman, finished the season as co-Southwestern Division champions with Monroe at 9-1-2 in league play. Bellbrook won the Division II district title and reached the regional semifinal round before bowing out of the postseason with a 14-4-3 overall mark.

The Bellbrook boys, led by Kevin Terrell, also shared the Southwestern Division crown with Monroe, and both teams also finished at 9-1-2 in league play. Bellbrook lost in the district quarterfinals to finish with a 9-5-2 overall record.

Golden Eagle senior Shane Niemeier shared Player of the Year honors with Monroe senior Ryan Davis. Bellbrook’s freshman goaltender Caleb McConnell received Newcomer of the Year honors after recording 14 saves and not giving up a goal in eight games in front of the net.

Niemeier, Gavin Ferrin and Drew Klepacz were first-team SWBL Southwestern recipients. Rutger Marien, Michael Owusu and Alex Moore were named to the Southwestern second team; while Evan Terry and Adam Billett received Honorable Mention honors.

Cinibulk named to All-Liberty team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Peter Cinibulk of Bellbrook and the Rochester Institute of Technology men’s soccer team was named to the 2016 Liberty League Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team. Cinibulk was an honorable mention pick.

Cinibulk played in 15 games in net, posting four wins and five shut outs. Cinibulk was sixth in the Liberty League with a 0.95 goals against average, second with 68 saves, eighth with an .810 save percentage. He played in seven Liberty League games posting a 1.30 goals against average and a .756 save percentage.

Meet the team night at Beavercreek

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek’s basketball teams will be introduced 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Ed Zink Fieldhouse at Beavercreek High School. The boys and girls high school and middle school teams will there along with cheerleaders, the pep band, the Beaverettes and the Beavercreek Stars.
