JEGS Super Quick Series runs Saturday
XENIA — The Summit ET (Points Race) and JEGS Super Quick drag racing series will compete Saturday, July 29 at Kil-Kare Dragway. Gates will open at 11 a.m. There will be no Junior Dragsters competing. Spectator Admission is $15, Kids 12 & under get in for $5 with a paid adult admission. Track action is scheduled to begin at noon.
Patriot 5K run set for Saturday
RIVERSIDE — The annual Carroll Women’s Soccer Patriot 5K run will be held Saturday, July 29 at Carroll High School, 4524 Linden Ave. The course begins and ends at Patriot Stadium. A Little Pat’s Lap, for kids 7 and under, starts 8 a.m. The cost is $6. The 5K begins 9 a.m. Registration is $26 for adults, $21 for students, and $16 for kids 13 and under. Race day registration begins 8 a.m.

High School Bob Ross Classic Saturday
DAYTON — The Miami Valley’s top high school baseball talent will be on display during the Annual Bob Ross Classic at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 at Fifth Third Field. The exhibition game, presented by the Bob Ross Auto Group, will showcase the best incoming high school seniors (class of 2018) from 20 different schools in the Miami Valley.
Admission to the game is free. Stadium gates will open one hour before the first pitch, at 6 p.m. The Bob Ross Classic will feature the same attractions as a Dayton Dragons game, with team mascots Heater & Gem, inflatables for kids, music, entertainment, and stadium concessions.
The players participating were selected by area coaches and will be seniors in the upcoming school year. The exhibition serves as a springboard to college and professional baseball, as scouts and college coaches attend the game each year.
Special Reds offer for July 21 ticket holders
CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds announce that all fans who attended the game on Friday, July 21 versus the Miami Marlins can attend any remaining home game this season at Great American Ball Park for $5.
The July 21 fireworks show was cancelled due to the City of Cincinnati’s noise ordinance.
Fans should bring their ticket from July 21 to the Great American Ball Park box office to receive the $5 View Level ticket offer for any game this season. Offer is valid in advance or on the day of the game, subject to availability.
Additionally, the post-game Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks show, presented by United Dairy Farmers, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23. (Reds vs. Boston Red Sox, 4:10 p.m.).
Fall basketball league
BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek High School girls basketball program will be hosting its 18th annual girls basketball fall league. The games will be played on Sunday afternoons Sept. 10 through Oct. 22. All teams will play seven games on five Sundays with no games Sept. 17-24.
The league will have 12 high school teams ninth through 12th grade. There will be 8-10 girls per team, with only two players from each school on the same team. Soccer club needs refs
XENIA — The Xenia Soccer Club is looking for new/returning/certified referees for the fall 2017 season. Referees will be trained, but previous soccer experience is a plus. Referees must be as least 13 years of age, attend a two-day training session, and successfully pass a written and field test.
Games are played Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. Referees can set their own schedule. Training will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 and 1:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 at the complex on Fairground Road in Xenia. Buddies program returns
DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons Kroger Baseball Buddy program is back for the 2017 season. Kids 7-13 can enter for a chance to run onto Fifth Third Field alongside the Dragons players.
The experience includes: Hanging out in the dugout during pre-game to meet the Dragons players; Getting autographs and photos with the Dragons team; Being introduced over the PA like a player; Running out on the field with the team before that day’s game. Baseball Buddies will also receive several gifts including a replica Dragons jersey, a Dragons baseball hat, a drawstring backpack, and Dragons pen and baseball to be autographed. One baseball buddy will win a free fun day at Fifth Third Field with 20 of their friends and Dragons players. To enter, look for the display at local Kroger stores.
