Xenia municipal court open with limited access

XENIA — Xenia Municipal Court will remain open and functioning, according to a release from Steve Pierson, clerk of court.

Some limited court appearances will still be required for individuals, however most court arraignments and hearings will be continued and rescheduled for after May 8.

Other changes announced include:

— All civil hearings, evictions, and small-claim hearings will be postponed for approximately eight weeks, with new filings scheduled for hearings after May 8, unless specified by the court.

— Arraignments for felony offenses including preliminary hearings, violent offenses and OVI’s will be held as scheduled unless other determined by the court.

— Arraignments for incarcerated individuals will be held via video with the Greene County Jail and Adult Detention Center.

— All temporary protection order requests will be heard and TOP’s will be served per current procedures.

— All other misdemeanor traffic and criminal arraignments, hearings, and trials will be continued to a new date after May 8.

— No jury trials will be held until after May 8, and those already summoned for jury duty before May 8 do not need to report to court.

— Pre-trial hearings will be conducted by telephone or video conference.

— Individuals who walk in with active warrants will be arraigned if practical to do so.

All notices of new court dates will be sent to the address on file. If addresses and phone numbers have changed, the clerk asks citizens to update that information.

Those wishing to make payments can pay online, by phone, by mail, or via the drop box inside the Market Street entrance to the Justice Center. The court will be closed to all individuals who do not have essential business with the court as.
