XENIA — Two statewide field days will be held in Greene County next week, July 10-11.

The annual Forage Management Tour will be held July 10 and will showcase marketing and conservation practices implemented at two Greene County farms. Grazing specialists Troyce Barnett of NRCS, Bob Hendershot of Green Pasture Services, and Dr. Dave Barker of OSU will lead discussion on grazing management, breeding management and research updates.

For the first time, Greene County will host Ohio Sheep Day, a statewide field day put on by the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association. Jim and Denise Percival will host Ohio Sheep Day at their farm in Xenia, July 11.

The event will include a trade show and breakout sessions on topics including pasture renovation, lambing barn arrangement, livestock mortality composting and predator control, as well as several other topics of interest to producers of sheep and other small ruminants. Sheep Day registration includes a lamb luncheon.
