XENIA — Several Downtown streets will be closed 4-11 p.m. Friday, July 3 as the city celebrates Independence Day with First Fridays and the Kevin Sonnycalb Memorial Fireworks Festival.
North Detroit Street between Main and Church streets; Detroit Boulevard between East Church and Weaver streets; Edison Boulevard between Weaver Street and Park Drive; and all of North Park Drive will be closed during the events.
There are many parking lots open to the public during the events including Shawnee Elementary School; Central Middle School; Xenia Towne Square; and city lot Nos. 3, 4 and 8. Also, several businesses are making their lots available.
First Fridays is 5-9 p.m. downtown. The fireworks festival begins 4 p.m. at Shawnee Park.
