XENIA — The Paint the Walks sidewalk art competition was held as part of the July First Fridays downtown.
Local artists painted a portion of the sidewalk in front of participating businesses, promoting the business in their art, while keeping the overall Independence Day theme.
First Fridays attendees were encouraged to vote for their favorite design. Shane Stevens received a first-place trophy for his design of “Smokin’ Sam” at the Smoke Shop. Second place was “With this Pen” by Totem Tattoos and third place was “A Slice of American Pride” by Becca, Carson and Ella Turner.
Voters were entered into a drawing for $50. Walter Grooms was the winner of the money, donated by Jim Kennedy of Kennedy Korners. A donation by Mark Donatelli Law made the entire event possible.
