XENIA — Blanche Pence is turning 90-years-old and wants to celebrate with all of her friends.

The former Xenia and current Spring Valley resident will hold an open house 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2 to celebrate the milestone birthday. Pence and husband, Harry, moved the Xenia in 1946. She was a substitute secretary in Xenia schools and retired from Home Federal Bank in 1992 and moved to Spring Valley.

When she was 85, Pence decided to write a book at the encouragement of her children. “I’m Just Sayin’” told stories from the 1930s era and is available in the Greene County libraries and on Amazon.com

The open house will be held in the newly renovated room that was occupied by the Spring Valley Senior Center in Schoolhouse Apartments, 1498 West Spring Valley-Paintersville Road.
