XENIA — Greene County Public Health is set to provide a breastfeeding and relaxation area for mothers at the Greene County Fair, Aug. 2-8. Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers will be able to rest, relax and feed their babies at the mobile health trailer, which will be located near the fairgrounds picnic shelter, between the assembly hall and administration building.
Information will be available about public health services, programs and breastfeeding, along with a rocker that a mom can use either inside or outside the trailer. Additionally, health staff will be available to chat with new moms about breastfeeding and provide support or assistance as needed.
“Ohio Law gives a mother the right to breastfeed her baby in any location that she has the right to be,” said Nancy Cohen, WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator at Greene County Public Health. “But sometimes it is challenging to find a comfortable place to relax with a baby. Our breastfeeding station is designed to meet that challenge and help a breastfeeding family have a fabulous day at the fair.”
