XENIA — When fairgoers crisscross the Greene County Fairgrounds during the fair this week, they’ll be able to look up and for the first time see a POW-MIA flag fluttering in the breeze underneath the American flag.
That flag was raised at the fairgrounds for the first time Friday afternoon as a crowd of assembled veterans and other interested individuals looked on. The flag was a donation by Army veteran Ralph Doster, 85, of Xenia.
“This is for all fallen soldiers, POWs, MIAs,” Doster said after the flag was raised. “This is my donation to the fairgrounds. … Everybody thought it would be a good idea.”
Thanks to Doster’s prodding efforts, that flag will be around to remind all who see it at the fair and other events at the fairgrounds, of the sacrifices made by men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, for years to come.
